Tres Llamas

These are three of our six llamas at Glendeven. Can you see a family resemblance?

From left to right this is Aunt Sue, her 'niece' Carla, and Carla's mom (who is also Sue's full sister) who we call Mama Llama.

Springtime in Anderson Valley

On your way to Glendeven, you pass miles of vineyards in the Anderson Valley and the new life of spring.

Waterfall

At Mendocino's Russian Gulch State Park, a three mile hike takes you to this waterfall.

It's a Glendeven favorite.

I took this picture when driving through the Anderson Valley today to get wine for the Wine Bar[n]. It's so great out there this time of year.

When you drive to Glendeven on the 128, this is one of the sights you'll see.

The New Organic Garden

Thanks for laying out the new garden. Thanks for installing the irrigation lines, staking the bender boards, and chipping the brush for the walkways with Jose. Thanks for moving in the rich soil from our compost and mixing it with llama pellets.

Soon this garden will be lush and green by your hands. We can't wait.

Betty Franks, our terrific new pastry chef, created these amazing cupcakes for guests arriving this week at Glendeven.

They are roasted banana cupcakes with peanut butter honey frosting.

February is Take-Home-A-Chicken month. Of the stuffed ones, that is. We have lots.

We need to keep the 50 real ones we have so that your breakfast eggs are the freshest they can be.

The stuffed chickens are perfect little gifts for the children and grandchildren in your life!

Valentine Cakes - Welcome!

Betty Franks, our new pastry chef at Glendeven, created these vanilla sponge cakes with raspberry-vanilla ganache and double chocolate icing for guests as a treat upon arrival on this Valentine's Weekend

Little River Beach

A short 10 minute walk from Glendeven down Peterson Lane and past the blackberry bushes and wild fuchsia & roses lies Little River Beach.

We have about 45 wines open by the glass.

Taste different pinot noirs, syrahs, or zinfandels side by side and find your favorite. Or maybe try a flight of Alsace varietals.

Pick and choose your own flight. They're half glasses.

It's fun.

The Old Campgrounds

Glendeven's north woods used to be a campground called Memory Lane Grove in the 1940-1950s. A recent Glendeven guest, pictured here, returned to the Glendeven grounds to reminisce about those days and to share stories. We're so glad she did.
Here she is today (left) and again (below) camping with her family circa 1950 in these same woods. (In the picture below, she's the pitcher, on the left.)

Chim Chiminey

Keeping you safe and warm at Glendeven Inn means regular maintenance on all the works, including the eight wood-burning fireplace chimneys throughout the property.

Big Bird at Glendeven Inn

In honor of Sesame Street's 40th Anniversay this month, we share our brush with Sesame Street fame.

Caroll Spinney, the puppeteer behind the brilliance of Big Bird, stayed at Glendeven in the Pinewood Room in 2005.

Caroll created Big Bird's character and has voiced and performed the Bird since the first episode of Sesame Street in 1969.

Caroll has also been playing Oscar from the first Sesame show -- from inside the trashcan!
